Yeah, this game is coming along great so far
This Wayneth Islander is performing an incredibly dangerous task. As the Tyrannosaurus is the most dangerous predator on the island, and the hardest to kill, it is suicidal to attempt to tame a full-grown adult. However, it is custom among certain tribes for the strongest and bravest hunters to perform what is called an "egg run." The hunter uses all his instinct and training to sneak into a Tyrannosaurus nest and steal an egg. Because T.rex females are incredibly attentive mothers, they are never far from the nest, and it happens often that the mother will track and pursue the egg-thief. In order to make their escape, the hunter travels with a party that waits for the animal and distracts it, before quickly hiding in a nearby shelter. If all goes well, the hunter returns to the village with his prize, and will spend his life rearing the hatchling up into a fearsome fighting mount. However, even then the task is not without its dangers, as many hunters who survive the egg raid are killed by their prized mounts if not careful in breaking them in their riotous young-adult years.
I did a little postulating in a previous piece as to what I thought the Tyrannosaurus rex in TSL would look like, and it turns out they did something way cooler. And so, I decided to do another little bit of TSL fanart with the T.rex as it'll appear in game. I used the same coloration and feathering as the in-game model, but based the actual reconstruction on Tyrannosaurus skeletals, so this is equal parts fan art and paleoart it would seem!
It's a damn shame that The Stomping Land won't come out before I leave for BCT, but what the hell, it'll be something to look forward to
